Valencian has an expression for every mood, every rhythm of life, every situation that in Spanish would require half a sentence to explain and here is resolved in three words. If you ask someone from here how they are doing and they reply "a la marxeta," they're not telling you they're going to a party. They're telling you that everything is going well, that they're still going, plodding along, with no rush or urgency. It's the answer of someone who doesn't need everything to be extraordinary to be satisfied with their day.

In the illustration, a coffee, a book, a phone nearby but not taking center stage. Life moving slowly, with nothing slipping through one's fingers. This is "ir a la marxeta": neither rushed nor stopped, simply flowing.

"De categoria" isn't a simple "it's good." It's the Valencian way of saying that something is truly excellent, above average. It's used for things that are truly worthwhile: a paella that tastes exactly as it should, a garment that fits you perfectly, a plan that exceeded all expectations. When something is "de categoria," there's no need to add anything else; the phrase itself does all the work.

The scene couldn't be clearer: beach, palm trees, paella on the sand, and the best company. The exact postcard of a day that, from the very beginning, promised to be "de categoria." And it was.
